Grazing incidence small-angle x-ray scattering (GI-SAXS) and reflectivity (XR) studies of electrified fluid-solid interfaces

Dr. Jose Banuelos, jlbanuelos@utep.edu

Project Description:

GI-SAXS and XR are experimental techniques for characterizing the nanoscale
structure and composition of thin film materials and their interfaces: GI-SAXS
gives information about the in-plane lateral structure of nanotextured films, and
XR gives information about how nanostructure changes as a function of depth. In
this energy storage project, the molecular-scale structural properties of room
temperature ionic liquid-based electrolytes will be studied in response to an
applied electric potential at the solid electrode surface.
